Basing on the study of documents the authors conclude that the form of social protests may be divided on spontaneous and organized, sanctioned and unsanctioned by authority, individual and group, masked and open, adapted, etc. In the North Caucasus the protest forms were characterized with special acuteness because of both the peculiarities of the social structure and gross errors of the local power.
