The symbol «road» has a special significance in the system of metaphorical thinking. From the space and time point of view it has some features, affecting all genres of folklore. This article discusses the types of roads presented in Ossetian Narta epos; it analyzes plot-founding value of the meeting character and the patron of the road. Particular attention is paid to the sustainable folk formulas with the semantics of the road.
