History and Ethnology Gutnov F. Kh. The Role of Feasts and Bards in Formation of Image of Authority in Medieval Societies of the Northern Caucasus // Izvestiya SOIGSI. 2011. Iss. 6 (45). P. 5-11. Keywords: feasts, solemn feast, prestige, dzheguako, bard In the article two factors (feasts and bards) in formation of authority of power in medieval societies of the Northern Caucasus are considered. Solemn collective meals finally have been directed on increase of leader’s image and power that has also found reflection in the epos of mountain peoples. Military leaders of the Narts such as Uryzmag, Soslan and Batradz organized feasts. The prestige of «managers» was supported also by court bards, who in songs and poems sang feats of princes and successful soldiers. Aylarova S. A. An Idea of Cooperation in G. V. Cooperation is offered as a variant of system transformation of mountain traditional manage, as an initial boundary for the alternative, national-focused variant of economic rise of the North Caucasian region. On an example of the Terek Cossack army the life priorities of military estate in the cultural-educational and social spheres during the period under examination are analyzed. Gaboeva E. R. On a Question of Construction Time of the Church of Holy Myrrh in the Settlement of Hidikus of Northern Ossetia // Izvestiya SOIGSI. 2011. Iss. 6 (45). P. 30-39. Keywords: Christianization of Ossetia, temple construction, project of church, date of construction The history of construction of the Hidikus’ Church of Holy Myrrh – a monument of cult architecture of the beginning of XX century – is considered in the article. Previously unknown facts that made it difficult for a long period to solve the issue of building a new church, that had been urgent for the local population, are revealed. On the base of collected field data and new archival sources it was possible to determine the location of the old and defined more precisely the prospective construction date of the new Church of Holy Myrrh, that has been restored from ruins in 2004. Neykova R. G. Ethno-Cultural Parallels between the Volga Region and the Balkans-Caucasian Territories (on folklore funeral and memory rites) // Izvestiya SOIGSI. 2011. Iss. 6 (45). P. 40-58. Keywords: ethno-cultural parallels, the Balkans, the Volga Region, Caucasus, folklore, burial facilities The article deals with the ethno-cultural parallels between the Volga Region and the Balkan-Caucasian territories. The folk materials (part of which was collected by the author) reveal the ethno-cultural contacts and parallels among Bulgars, Chuvashes, Balkars, Ossetians / Alans, etc., in early and late medieval times, as well as in the late folk tradition. The analysis of the rite components reveals their old Indo-Iranian and Indo-European character and origin.

Sattsaev E. B. The Ossetic in the Iranian Language Group // Izvestiya SOIGSI. 2011. Iss. 6 (45). P. 59-62. Keywords: Iranian group of languages, Persians, Afghans, Ossetians, Scythians, Sarmatians, Alans, Avestan language, Eastern Iranian languages, Alanian problem, social status of the Ossetian language The article deals with the place and significant originality of the Ossetian language within the Iranian group of Indo-European family, which also includes the Persian, Afghan, Tajik, Kurdish and other languages. The ancient grammatical forms and archaic Old-Iranian lexicon, often absent in other Iranian languages, are well preserved in the Ossetian language. The Ossetian language presents a great value for comparative historical researches of the Indo-European and Iranian languages. But during the past decades, the social status of the Ossetian language, in practice, has fallen significantly, and there is an active process of moving of Ossetians from the native language to Russian. The author considers the urgent measures should be taken to improve the status of the Ossetic – the successor of the Scythian (Alan) linguistic tradition. Britaeva A. B. The problem of definition of a «literary tale» conception and basing term of a «tale» is in details considered. The Problem of Transfer of Idioms and Equivalentless Lexica in Author’s Literary Translation // Izvestiya SOIGSI. 2011. Iss. 6 (45). P. 69- Keywords: reality, idiom, equivalence, analog translating language, proceeding language, translation text, initial text, connotation In the article «Adæimadzhy mælæt» («The Death of the Man») – «The Return of Uruzmag» ways and receptions of transfer of equivalentless lexica, phraseological units, sayings, proverbs, aphorisms in N. G. Dzhusoity’s own translation is traced. Individual approaches of the bilingual writer in transformation of the national peculiarity of the original are revealed.
