In the article authors investigate ways and methods of art searches of one of the most remarkable Ossetian writers of the 20th century Dabe Mamsurov, define features of his creativity, his innovation and achievements in the sphere of formation of art character in the Ossetian literature. So, in particular, authors open features of a character formation of the writer in tragedies «Afkhardta Hassan’s», «Leader Bagatar», novels «Akhsarbeg» and «Poem of heroes».

Thus it is noted that in the tragedies D. Mamsurov claims a thought that the person is given right to be free, to be happy, and to love. In his novels the writer creates an idea of novelistic type of character as the generalized art phenomenon in which in the form of the single the general is expressed.
